Sanctuary with donkey

This is an organised walk with a local guide and well worth the small expense. They will meet you at the local village of Caselle in Pittari and take you up to the sanctuary. A donkey carries baskets full of delicious local cheeses, home made scarola pies (pizza rustica), salame and wine and a fine picnic is laid on at the top of the mountain.  The walk is dramatic and takes you around the mountain across ledges and through woods and back to the town for a well-earned ice-cream at the end.
